Whitney Reisner, wife of Denver Broncos forward Dalton Reisner, has over one million followers on TikTok — and she credits haters for helping her reach the milestone.
Whitney began posting regular NFL game day content on TikTok in 2020, like kissing Dalton on a wall from the stands to the field. The feedback it received was polarizing – but the interaction convinced the app to show more of it to users.
She laughed, “I remember getting a lot of hate in the beginning, but I’m crazy enough that the algorithm ignited and that’s kind of how it set off.”
“People were either positive, saying I had a dream life, or commented, ‘You’re so embarrassed. Your husband is your character.
“It was extreme to the other, and both prompted the algorithm to give me more involvement.”
Two years later, Dalton celebrated Whitney’s 1 million followers in part by providing balloons to celebrate the occasion, and she became a full-fledged influencer. I’ve worked with Snickers. She is traveling to the upcoming New York Fashion Week on behalf of the Revolve brand. She’s also launching a jewelry project, with a vision to live through your younger self.
Engagement disparity can be difficult for influencers to deal with. Whitney might send something with little preparation and get millions of views, or you might spend a lot of time and effort planning a post only until it fails.
“If you’re going to use social media, you have to have thick skin, and don’t let that control you — otherwise you’ll go crazy,” she said. “Sort of a balance in seeing what leads and running from that, but also knowing that you never do it I know What will people like?
Dalton played football at Kansas State and Whitney was on the Fort Hays State basketball team in Kansas. While they became familiar with each other in passing from their athletic pursuits, the Risners really managed to meet each other at Lake of the Ozarks, where Dalton was on vacation and Whitney’s parents owned a home and she had a summer job.
Like many modern day novels, this one started with the DM chip.
The couple has now followed each other on Instagram. When Dalton sent a message to his future wife for the first time on the platform, while the two were college students, Whitney was a friend at the time and, in Dalton’s words, put him in the “friend zone.”
About a year later, Dalton was in his final year at K-State, and they reconnected – through Snapchat.
This time it was Whitney who made the call. She and her boyfriend have separated. She saw that Dalton was in the area, and reached out to him about the meeting. He was back the following weekend, and they went to bar jumps around the lake.
The Lake of the Ozarks is unique in the sense that the people there do a lot of their boating. What might take a two-hour drive between homes or bars and restaurants might take just a few minutes by water.
“It’s kind of crazy how it goes – he went to Colorado and I’m from Missouri, if it didn’t happen, it probably wouldn’t. [marriage] Whitney said.
When they first started seeing each other, Dalton was twenty-three and Whitney was twenty. Dalton was headed to the NFL and Whitney didn’t necessarily feel that either of them wanted to commit.
“I was at the point where I wanted to find a good woman — someone who loved me for me,” Dalton said. “I wasn’t looking for someone just to have fun. I felt the opposite. She thought I was a ‘football player’ [looking for a quick hookup]. She was like, “What do you want to do with a 20-year-old who’s finishing college while going down this road?”
With very little foundation built, Dalton continued to pursue a long-distance relationship for about a year.
“He was going to the NFL. I was a basketball player and a nursing student,” Whitney said. “I was like, ‘What does this guy want?’ I was like, “Go and enjoy yourself.” Why are you trying to make this work? He was very patient and I was immature. He kept persevering and showing me who he is, and I’m glad everything went well.”
Speaking of the NFL, Dalton has New challenge on his hands this season. The Broncos acquired Russell Wilson – which means holding the blocks longer with the mobile quarterback.
“Russell is an amazing midfielder and captain. I loved every part of being here. I’ve never been around a player like him in four years in the league,” Dalton said. “When it comes to professional passing, I’m used to having certain rules – 2-3 seconds in a normal pass, and six seconds at most in a playing motion. With Russell back there, he’s pretty good with his feet, and he’s dashing a lot. Now the rule is that there is no rule as to how long you ban your man. You block your guy until the whistle goes off.
The attacking goalkeeper made it clear that keeping the blocks until the end of the play is imperative not only because Wilson can scramble around them – but the quarterback can be right by the defender who is tasked with blocking him.
“You don’t know where he is. If the D-lineman is still working, we are still working. It makes life more difficult for the offensive line, no doubt. But more importantly, we have a guy who wants it.” win over Abroad. A man wants to make it happen. I don’t complain about that. I think it will be really useful for us.”
Back in the couple, they spend a lot of their free time together helping each other buy clothes, watch movies, go to church – Dalton talks about his faith in terms of feeling like he has a “higher purpose” and talks about the worthiness of all people, treating everyone “the right way” .
The couple also spend time working on the Dalton Foundation, RisnerUpWho works with Special Olympics and also benefits people who are seriously ill or others in need.
“I feel like me and Whitney are just best friends. Not that I don’t have any other friends, but I’d rather hang out with her,” Dalton said. “If the boys are like, ‘Hey, let’s go get a beer at the bar,’ I’d rather hang out with Whitney. at home.”
