Fred Henninger, 56, of Monroe, NJ will face 100The tenth The Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series event is when he runs the Half Marathon on Sunday. While he has always been fairly active due to his job with the United States Postal Service, Henninger didn’t start working until later in his life. He had a dog that loved to run and was always trying to get Fred to run at a fast pace while walking, which inevitably led to Fred running and getting attached to the sport. He first tried some local 5K games in New Jersey before taking part in Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas in 2012.

“My friend told me to start reading some running magazines and the ad races on the last page were really fun,” Henninger said. I offered to play the tape at night® And I decided to do it. I went to Vegas in 2012 and this was the third half of a marathon I’ve ever run and I was really happy. The experience was great. I couldn’t believe the whole sector was closed. Originally I was only planning to run one race, but I decided to do each race once and go from there.”

Since that first event in Vegas, Henninger has kept coming back for more Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series not just because of the destinations but because of all the friends he’s made within the running community.

“I’ve met all these really crazy, hilarious runners,” Henninger said. “I got to know them and they were doing all these runs and they asked me to join them so I just started doing all the races and my biggest year in 2015 I did 22 of them. The people I was running with became good friends and we would make every event a fun and interesting time. It’s great to go to all these cities with people who have become close friends. If it was just about running, I would have given up a long time ago.”

Participating in the Rock ‘n’ Roll racing series made an impact in his life as he made new friends and got fit. It also helped him during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic as he used Virtual Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Club To stay active and continue to challenge his mind and body.

“I got all the hypothetical medals when there were no races,” Henninger said. “It really helped during COVID. I would go out every weekend and I was serious about getting those medals. I work overnight so I go out in the middle of the night and run with a little flashlight so I can run without anyone. It was great to have us A challenge and to pass it until the return of live racing.”

Reaching the 100-race mark has taken Henninger a little longer than expected due to the COVID-19 pandemic which has forced the cancellation of races and some injuries. While it would be worth crossing the finish line for 100The tenth Time, Henninger isn’t planning on slowing down anytime soon.

“I should have gotten 100The tenth He spoke in Vegas last year, but I hurt my back and had to cancel some races,” Henninger said. “I knew I had to come back to participate in these special moments. I’ve been to other races and always felt like I’d do special races with rock ‘n’ roll. We always have Ann Wesling as our leader.
